About Words in Motion

By providing both arts education (educating children about the value and beauty of the arts) as well as arts-in-education (using the arts as a springboard to teach and enrich other core curriculum subjects),Words in Motion promotes literacy in its broadest sense, with an emphasis on emotional and social literacy for children.

The not-for-profit company appears as a team or with other accomplished musicians, actors, dancers, improvisational performers and artist-educators to support teachers in elementary schools who are increasingly challenged to provide for both the academic and social/ emotional needs of young children. All Words in Motion programs have strong curriculum links.

Through their programs, participants are exposed to the performing arts as a vital, creative and educational experience. A Words in Motion presentation demonstrates the possibilities of incorporating expression and imagination into the day-to-day activities of children. The expectation of these programs is that the life lessons learned will remain with students as they develop into creative thinkers and contributing members of their communities.
