Workshops
Friendship In Action
Words in Motion strongly believes in putting the positive spin on difficult problems, such as bullying. Rather than dwelling too long on anti- bullying, children are exposed to the possibility of becoming pro-friendship. These workshops approach common problems from a positive, and often humorous, point of view.
Friendship In Action, for Grades 3,4,5, and 6, encourages dialogue about children's concerns that they might not otherwise have, introducing and exploring strategies for social and emotional skill building while meeting basic curriculum goals in drama for Primary and Junior levels.
In consultation with the students, a theme, such as friendship, is identified. Through discussion, drama, and improvisation, the conflicts and difficulties inherent in the theme are presented to the children up to the point of resolution. Then, under the guidance of the creative educational team, the children write, act, compose and direct the resolution to the conflicts.
For younger children, Jk to Grade 2, Words in Motion has developed a series of Friendship in Action workshops around those two very different, but very close friends, Frog and Toad. These two amphibious friends make great role models for how to be a friend, warts and all. These thoughtful presentation help children develop empathic and sensitive ways of relation to each other.

Soulpepper/Words in Motion
Artists of Soulpepper Theater work with Words in Motion to provide a dynamic arts education team. These workshops are centered around a piece of classical literature such as Shakespeare, and support education in two ways. One is to assist the children in their academic pursuits through exposure to the world's greatest drama. The other is to expose teachers to innovative ways of integrating the arts into the curriculum through activities that evolve as the workshops progress.
